Antioch just sent me another invitation to the annual "reunion." Because I was on and off campus several times a year to complete co-op jobs, I never felt a very strong association with any "class" and my friends varied widely from quarter to quarter I was on campus.
I am going to start a series of messages to get come conversation started about this topic...
Here's the first
Do you feel connection with your graduating class?
thanks!

Re: Do you feel a connection to your graduating class?
Fri, March 12, 2004 - 2:05 PMGads, I don't even remember who was in what year. I do remember not seeing many people returning from one quarter to the next. When I was there, the attrition rate was so high I just figured on starting from scratch everytime I came back. I definately learned how to adapt, among other things.
Hmmm, come to think of it I never get anything from them [Antioch] ... maybe I should give them my address ;)
Lane - have you been to any reunions? How were they? -

Re: Do you feel a connection to your graduating class?
Tue, April 6, 2004 - 7:44 AMI've been to reunion a couple times, not really meant to, actually, just happened to be in town. I didn't do the meetings and events things, just walked around a bit and chatted with people. Most of the alumni are older, 50s and up I would say--more nostalgic than anything. Most of them thought I was still a student, most of the students thought I was--well, who knows--but there was free food and a big tent with some jazz and that was good enough for me. I may go to the big sesquincentennial celebration this summer--undecided as of yet. The antioch website is all about it.

Re: Do you feel a connection to your graduating class?
Fri, March 19, 2004 - 8:43 PMnot precisely. I feel a pretty good connection to the overlapping years of 91-93. Speaking of whom, any of you all out there? I've been to reunion twice and I really enjoyed it- I looked at what years did most of my friends graduate and went then. I graduated in 91 cause I did it in 4 years, most of my buddies did it in 5. So I went both years.

Re: Do you feel a connection to your graduating class?
Tue, April 6, 2004 - 7:38 AMI don't feel so much connection to the class per se, but to certain individuals, many of whom happened to be in the same class (at least for part of the time), whether entering or graduating together. I entered in 94, graduated in 99, and was friends with the 2 guys next door, as well as with my first roommate, for pretty much the whole time there. One of them was even married to a girl I went to high school with who also came to Antioch. In fact, most of the friends I met that first term or two made it through to the end, partly I think because of the friendships we had. I also played music and have tried to stay somewhat connected to those guys. One is still my best friend and lives 5 mins away, with his girlfriend, another alum from my class. I probably couldn't tell you who was in my class though, maybe with a one-year margin of error...
